JOB OPPORTUNITY: Texas Art Conservatory

Position Title: Visual Art Instructor Reports to: Sheyna Ferraro, Community Programs Director Department: Texas Art Conservatory

Position Summary: Texas Art Conservatory offers intensive eight-week courses of study for students in grades 3-12, designed to develop foundations in technical visual art skills in both 2D and 3D media processes. Over the eight-week course, students will build their personal portfolios with 5-6 completed art works. A progressive curriculum allows students to continue to grow and develop their skills year round as additional courses continue to be added to the schedule.

Essential Job Function:

  • Provide instruction for visual arts classes in grades 3-12

  • Implement effective lesson plans that promote the highest levels of artistic scholarship, problem solving, and creative expression

  • Create and maintain positive communication with administration, staff, faculty, students, parents, and community members

  • Create a positive, safe working environment, and be a role model and mentor for students

  • Others as assigned

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Education: BFA in Visual/Studio Arts

  • Experience: ideally a minimum of three (3) years teaching visual arts and actively producing art

  • Required Skills and Capabilities: artistic skills commensurate with an experienced visual artist/teacher, excellent verbal and written communication

  • Preferred Skills and Capabilities: strong classroom management; experience collaborating with others

  • Class Schedule: classes begin the week of August 26, 2019. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays starting at 4:15pm each afternoon. Class schedule can be split between multiple instructors if desired.

  • Physical Requirements: ability to carry up to 25 lbs.; valid driver license
