GWEN MEHARG

Using abstraction, I paint stories of hope. Each painting explores what has been, what is, and what might be. Each layer influences, but no single layer determines the final result.

Wake, work, eat, sleep, win, lose, love -shampoo, rinse, repeat- the ordinary becomes a blur. These ordinary actions, like marks on a canvas, are foundational to something greater. The Marking Time paintings invite the viewer to consider the extraordinary beauty in the details of our own lives.

Good stories are true. True stories, even difficult stories, are beautiful. Extraordinary courage is required to commit to one more day, to commit to one more mark. My acrylic paintings celebrate the bravery in keeping on. My paintings are a declaration of hope.
